(MVO: Different speech from left and right speakers)

LEFT: It was the fall of 1912. Our battalion was exhausted, but the drums of war pushed us forward towards our victory. The crisp air hinted that winter would soon be another enemy to be reckoned with. It weighed heavily on our minds. We hid our emotions, some better than others. The battlefield seemed to scream out to us, and it was then that we knew victory was ours.

RIGHT: We stormed forward in our new uniforms, unaware of the terror that was just around the corner. Our hearts trembled, but our comraderie replaced our fear with adrenaline. The band played behind us and the firecrackers sounded. Although trivial, they seemed to drive us. We marched forward, and it was then that we knew victory was ours.

ANN: Kim Peek reads both pages of a book simultaneously. One of many stories on Mysteries of the Mind Week, January 11 to 18th.
